v. 1.0 (beta)
1. To take/edit the asciimation, click on @ near by to the title,
2. After editing, save it with the "make an open source box CHECKED.
3. Don't make the asciimation looped, don't edit previous frames.
4. Leave these tips in comments of your version of animation.
5. Tag your version with contest:asciimators battle.
6. Try to come up with original content (for example, don't overdo morphing)

So how does make ASCIImation that doesn't feel like a serious letdown compared to AweAndWonders entry?
We use the GIS. He pulls it of in 30 minutes.

Also, you can't run FROM HEAVEN.

You're the master of fast ASCIImating.

Ohhhhh I just realized it's a reference to your name. :P

I am REALLY quick at ASCIImating. Being commited and using what I call "Hannah Barbera
techniques" I can ensure decently quality ASCIImations in short time.

Ooo never heard of Hanna Barbera before. But I think I know what you mean. Though, I'm far
too obsessive and picky to be fast, so it wears me down. I probably won't do any more big
animations in a while.

Ooo okay. I didn't play that game yet :P

They made shows like scooby doo the jetsons, the flinstones etc...

They were the pioneers of animations techniques which require minimal effort, maximum result.
For example, reusing a short loop 3 times as opposed to animating the entire thing. or to reuse
scenes sparsely so people don't notice.

I try to make my ASCIImations in such a way that I can copy/paste as many frames while only doing
minor cleanups.

I could maybe make a video to show such things.

Oh, wow, I feel like I shoulda heard of them by now. :P

Yeah, I should try do that more often.

That could be helpful

I can tell some of the tactics I use:

Screenshaking and colouration of frames are added once animations are done.
Walk cycles are copy/pasted and nudged appropriately.
When a cycle is used, I copy one of the frames several times. The I copy paste the other frames in
When I have a nudge a tall object into a direction, I ddo'nt nudge is line by line. (Add or
remove spaces)
Instead I add/copy a space on one line, move up one and repeat. Then I work my way back down like a

Haha, that Dota 2 reference.
Also you guys are so prone to breaking the fourth wall in your entries :P

@GIS: Also, by studying your technique I realized that I use very similar techniques, especially
the... uhh... especially... especially all of them. Yup.

Like the smurfs?

Also last night, I had one of the best ideas i ever had! Too bad asie's going next...

My reply is going AweAndWonder-fully. Should be out tomorrow. :)
11.08.2014 01:10
by  AweAndWonder

Actually I use most of those techniques myself. *shrugs* No idea why it takes me so long. Maybe
I'm just too picky.
I mean... except that one time I decided to use a loop of 80 frames instead of 5 or 10. That was
just me being a derp.

There's no doubt you're full of ideas, but I'd like it if you would wait until my
part is done before asking to be next.
Otherwise, it felt like you don't care what I do, as long as you get a chance to do what you
want to do.

If asie is really going AweAndWonder-fully, then "tomorrow" means next month.

Okay, okay, bad joke, I know. :P (I never *intend* for my animations to take a month!) He'll
probably be done before then, but either way, I think we should be patient.

ASCIImators Battle is not the only aspect of this site, CTDS. I'd prefer one good ASCIImation
over 10 rushed, sloppy ones any day.

Take your time if you need to, Asie, just don't forget about it altogether!

Well, I haven't finished any asciis in a while... Actually, I have lots of them that I do need
to finish... So why do I procrastinate all the time? Maybe it's trying to juggle Khan Academy,
Tetris, Minecraft, BL, ASCIImator, Puzzle Pirates, Facebook, Gmail, piano and violin lessons, and...
some other things... that I do in my free time... and trying not to forget when I fail drastically.
I have too little time to make an ascii... Oh, and Sploder! Another victim of my overloaded
schedule! I rarely use it anymore! :/ Kongregate is something I use! I barely use Scratch and
ROBLOX, and I sometimes use Drawception. So that's... let's see... 15 things listed so
far?! You see! That's why I'm so impatient yet inactive! I'm a hypocrite!

by  CTDSThree

I forgot to indent that passage...

And "hypocrite" sounds too self-hating...

And I think I forgot some things...

Shouldn't that be a freaking bullet point list?...

Plus, no one has published any ASCIImations in a while...
